This podcast conversation is an overview of the book I just put out, a guide about — how we think about the brains we actually have, not the ones we were told we should have.

My book, When Your Brain Needs a Minute, is a guide for anyone who’s been told their way of thinking, feeling, or moving through the world is a problem to fix. It’s not. It’s built on the idea that neurodivergence — whether that’s Autism, ADHD, or another neurological difference — is a natural part of being human. Not a deficit. Not a disorder. A difference.

I wrote it for the people living this every day. For the families trying to get it right. For the clinicians and educators who want to do better. And I wrote it because the old models — the ones that pathologize how your brain works — have done real harm.

This book blends current research with lived experience because both matter. It’s a strength-based, identity-affirming approach that puts neurodivergent people back where they belong: at the center of their own story. And it’s honest about the healing that needs to happen when the world has spent years telling you something is wrong with you.

If you’ve ever felt like your brain doesn’t fit the mold — it was never supposed to.
